ABBY WAMBACH SKIPS NWSL OPENER

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two-time Olympic gold medalist Abby Wambach has been ruled out from playing in the Western New York Flash’s NWSL season-opener at Washington because of a fractured orbital bone below her left eye.

The Flash said Wambach sustained the injury during the U.S. women’s national team’s 3-0 win over China at San Diego on Thursday. The injury was confirmed when Wambach rejoined the Flash for their game Sunday.
